I've been a real slacker as far as FNL goes these days, but it's still really important to remember my FNL friends' b-days and all other celebrations. So, happy belated birthday! I hope things in Canada are going fine. I hope your daughter's well. I wish you all the best!

Happy, happy b-day to fellow FNL-er "that dudejoe". Clear eyes, full hearts! And may someone plop you down into the middle of a cow pasture and promise to build a football field around you, and then offer to go get a "blanket from the car." Mm-hmmm!

So we get official word that the FNL re-runs are no more. Okay, *this* is worth writing about. WTF, NBC? Fickle is as fickle does. Just reminds me that when we get a little taste of controlling our own destiny in terms of saving quality television, NBC pulls the switch on FNL re-runs. Weird, weirder. I'm feeling a bit smashed today. In a bad way.

On the other hand, Monday's season premiere of The Closer on TNT was predictably great, if not for the somewhat forced and fast emotional turnaround and confession of the advocate brother. I mean, where did *that* come from? One small quibble in a great episode. Brenda's tummy-rubbing daddy-angst was hilarious. That so much fury and nasty intelligence come from such a small and vulnerable lady is the best bait-and-switch of the series, and what makes it so good.
